Barlborough Hall School near Sheffield, is officially one of the top 100 Independent Preparatory Schools in England.
A table of independent preparatory schools compiled by The Sunday Times, placed Barlborough Hall School as one of the top schools in the region.
The school, which is set in a stunning Grade I listed building in acres of rolling countryside, takes children from age three to 11. Children then move up to its senior school Mount St Mary’s College.
Headteacher Karen Keeton said she was absolutely delighted that Barlborough Hall School had been placed in the top flight of preparatory schools nationally.
“Our school is an incredibly special place and this result is down simply to the very hard work of our pupils and dedicated staff,” she said.
“Our deliberately small class sizes, wide curriculum and amazing location make Barlborough Hall a perfect place to develop young hearts and mind as they grow on a journey of education, exploration and discovery.”
Mrs Keeton explained that the school had adapted superbly to the obstacles presented by 2020.
“This has been, and continues to be, an incredibly challenging year but that has not stopped us one bit,” she said. “We are such a strong community and our strength and support for each other has simply grown stronger with every obstacle we have had to overcome this year.
“Where necessary children have been taught online to the same very high standard that they would receive in the classroom, and we have reached out to support every child.”
Mrs Keeton added: “Every child who has had to isolate has been included in assemblies and other extracurricular activities that they would normally enjoy in school, and the feedback from our parents has been phenomenal.
“We never waiver from our Catholic values to ensure we nurture every child to be the best they can be and this is reflected in our amazing ratings this weekend.”
The rankings were calculated from aggregated average scaled scores achieved by children in Reading, Grammar and Mathematics from Sats (Statutory Assessment Tests) taken in 2019.
