Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has expressed his thanks to educators around the United States for their perseverance and dedication throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. He has done so in the form of a donation of more than one million face masks for teachers and students.
The devout Catholic, who has starred in films including the Transformers’ series and 2001’s Planet of the Apes, announced the donation in a video message in which he thanked all essential workers and offered prayers for them and their families.
“As you know, this has been a year of change and stress for everybody,” Wahlberg said. “But today, I want to thank our essential workers. You guys have kept us healthy, safe and supplied us with all the necessities.
“Everyday brings a new challenge but we continue to pray for you and for your families and please know your efforts are much appreciated. God bless you, stay safe, thank you and you’re in my thoughts and my prayers.”
Wahlberg’s supplement company Performance Inspired teamed with active lifestyle brand LifeToGo to donate 1.3 million disposable face masks to students and teachers across the United States. The campaign also features billboards in 13 US cities thanking essential workers.
